Termination Interviews
A special type of exit interview is the one in which you break the bad news to someone: termination. It assumes that a sufficient number of supervision and counseling interviews have been conducted to attempt to resolve the problem, because every possible alternative should be explored before you tenninate an employee.
Personnel specialists agree that firing someone has been one of the most dreaded and mishandled responsibilities that managers are called upon to perform. And it is no picnic for the person being terminated, either. Studies have shown that the trauma of being fired is so great that it can be compared in intensity to divorce or to the death of a loved one.
