Crimes against people decline in South Australia as property offences rise

The rate of crime committed against people in South Australia fell in the last financial year, according to police.
SA Police today revealed statewide statistics that showed "reported crimes against the person" had fallen 3 per cent.
At the same time, however, reported offences involving property increased 5 per cent, meaning an overall increase in SA's reported crime of 3 per cent.
SA Police said crimes against people numbered 23,881 in 2015-16, falling from 24,577 in 2014-2015.
Crimes involving property increased from 79,061 to 83,221.
