The progress of advanced technology has made a significant contribution to daily communication among people. Nevertheless, there is a controversy that handset devices, such as mobile phone should be prohibited like smoking. From my point of view, in some cases, mobile phone users had better-set limits for this device. In other cases, the mobile phone should be encouraged.
As functional equipment, a mobile phone is well –known for its far –distance connection and the storage of multimedia documents. Thanks to this convenience, people can make easy contact together, no matter how they are far away. A director, for example, can inform his local staffs of immediately addressed tasks by dialing phone numbers when he is working oversea, and as such jobs will be completed favorably. In addition, smartphones are beneficial for owners as well due to books in digital format and other knowledge applications. Instead of storing a large number of documents in personal desktops or laptops which are inconvenient to hold by, smartphone owners will find much easier to carry e-books along with a Nokia or iPhone . In another word, if smartphones are suggested to be banned, we will limit ourselves in terms of daily conversation and information storage based on the electronic platform.
However, the prohibition of mobiles, in other circumstances, would help users avoid fatal accidents. For instance, it is commonly thought that calling phones in petrol station could ignite explosion because electromagnetic radiation from mobiles is seen as the root cause of sparkling. If this device is permitted to turn on, not only does it make fuel tanks explode, but also phone users can be burned to death? Take, for another example, using mobile phones while driving in the bustling street which distracts vehicle owners. As a result, they may cause damage to themselves and other pedestrians.
In conclusion, the cellular phone has both positive and negative effects depending on where we use and what we work with it. Accordingly, mobile users themselves need to set strict rules for the sake of individual and social benefits.
