MONASH RESIDENTIAL SERVICES, CLAYTON CAMPUS – URBAN COMMUNITY
Thank you for your application for a place at Monash Residential Services (MRS), Clayton in October 2015. We anticipate that we will be able to accommodate you in a self-contained studio apartment provided that you are or have been accepted as a student of Monash College.
Please be advised that Monash Residential Services has offered you accommodation on the condition that you remain a full-time Monash College student throughout the year and you may be required to vacate your studio apartment if you discontinue your enrolment or change from;
 full-time to part-time study or,
 transfer to distance education or,
 waiting to graduate or,
 waiting to re-enrol.
PROCEDURE FOR ACCEPTING THE ACCOMMODATION OFFER
If your place at Monash College is already confirmed, the deadline for payment of your AUD$500 rental deposit is specified in your offer email. Payment of this deposit will be credited against your November accommodation invoice. If you are awaiting an offer from Monash College please contact the Admissions Officer via email to request an extension of time prior to making any payments.
Please ensure that, before the deadline mentioned in your offer email, you pay the AUD$500 rental deposit and forward the signed Residency Agreement to: The Admissions Office, 38 College Walk, Wellington Road, Clayton Monash University, Victoria 3800, or via email. WITHDRAWING YOUR APPLICATION
Please note that the AUD$500.00 rental deposit is non-refundable & non-transferable. If you change your mind and withdraw your application the rental deposit will not be refunded. Residents who withdraw their application or change their mind after signing the agreement for accommodation must note that they are liable for the rental payment of the studio apartment allocated to them until a suitable replacement is found. Monash Residential Services is obligated to fill studio apartments that are already vacant before your studio apartment can be filled.
CONFIRMING YOUR STUDIO APARTMENT
Upon receipt of your acceptance we will send you an email of confirmation, and allocate you to a suitable studio apartment.

MOVING IN
Charges for accommodation for new residents will commence from Thursday 1st October 2015, or earlier if your arrival date is prior to this. Please note we expect you to arrive on 1st October 2015. If you do not arrive and begin your residency in the hall and studio apartment allocated to you by 3pm, Thursday 1st October 2015, MRS will attempt to find a replacement to fill the vacancy unless prior arrangement to take up residency at a later date has been agreed and confirmed with the Admissions Office. If you decide to commence residency after 1st October 2015 and no later than 14th October 2015, you are required to inform the Admissions Office via email, [e-mail], by 17th September 2015 about your late arrival.
RENTAL DEPOSIT
The AUD$500 non-refundable & non-transferable rental deposit payment will ensure that your place at MRS is reserved for your arrival. Failure to move into your reserved studio apartment by 3pm on the 1st October 2015 will result in MRS attempting to find a suitable replacement to fill your studio apartment, unless prior arrangement to take up residency has been agreed and confirmed with the Admissions Office. Residents are reminded that they are responsible for rental payments until a suitable replacement is found. Although it is unlikely if, owing to a large number of applications for residency, Clayton Residential simply does not have sufficient rooms to guarantee all offered applicants are successful, the AUD$500 rental deposit will be refunded in full.
KEY COLLECTION
The Administration Office is open 8.30am to 7pm on weekdays. On arrival proceed to the Administration Office, Building 87 (38 College Walk) to check in, collect your studio apartment key and proceed to your residence. TRANSITION INTO RESIDENTIAL LIFE AT MRS / MONASH COLLEGE
As part of our program to assist students with the transition into Residential Life at MRS/Monash College, we have developed a program called REStart. REStart is designed to assist you at every stage of the transition (from the planning, preparing and packing stage, through arrival, settling in and then thriving in Residence and at Monash College). AMENITIES
Please note that:
 Your studio apartment is carpeted, heated and furnished with a king single bed, desk, VOIP telephone, desk
chair, bookshelves, a built-in wardrobe, dining table and chair.
 The kitchenette has a microwave convection oven, 2 burner hot plate, 3⁄4 size fridge, sink and kitchen cupboards.
 You should bring your own bed linen, doona/duvet, doona/duvet cover, pillows, towels, hangers, crockery,
cutlery, cooking utensils and cleaning equipment.
 If you bring an electric jug or kettle or any other electrical appliances please note that to minimize the fire danger
it MUST be a model with automatic safety cut-off.
 If you choose to bring your own furniture e.g. bed, chair etc. The storage of the furniture items provided in your
studio apartment is your own responsibility and on your departure all items that were present in your studio
apartment on arrival must be found in place and in good condition otherwise, charges will apply.
 Washing machines, clothes dryers, irons and iron boards are provided in the communal laundry. An oven is
available in the floor lounge.
Linen packs are available to pre-purchase at the Monash Residential Services Online Store.
