Machine translation, also known as MT, appears to be one of the most promising technologies that intend to tackle this matter. There is a catch, though; processing power. Given the massive amount of data, it seems rather challenging to process and provide such results in satisfactory time. Worse, the results are often inaccurate, apparently due to the high level of complexity of each language. These are often cited as some of the reasons why MT would never take over humans on translations.Such assertions, however, turn out to be flawed. Considering the exponential performance growth of multi-core processors, allied with the endless possibilities of quantum computing, some evidence suggest that fully functioning MTs would probably be available within the next decade. And this appears to be a conservative estimative. In fact, recently, Microsoft has live presented its newest personal assistant, the Cortana, translating a conversation from Chinese to English on-the-fly.
