Approximately unbiased test (AU) and choice of phylogenetic tree
The statistical significance of the competing phylogenetic hypotheses was assessed under a likelihood model with the approximately
unbiased (AU) test (Shimodaira and Hasegawa, 2001). To perform the
AU test, a set of alternative tree hypotheses must be available.
Different phylogenetic hypotheses were obtained for the parsimony
and Bayesian analyses (see below). For each phylogenetic tree, the
site-wise log-likelihood values were obtained with ProtML 2.3b3
(Adachi and Hasegawa, 1996), and the AU test was implemented in
CONSEL 0.1f (Shimodaira, 2002)
