Thanks and best regards, Thu Ha From: John Page Sent: Friday, November 21, 2014 10:42 PMTo: 'Ngo ThuTrang'Cc: Eve Dicks; Gemma KellySubject: Halong Bay Boat - swim incidentImportance: High Good afternoon Trang, I hope you can help me with a recent incident that has been brought to my attention via our Tour Manager. This occurred on the recent tour that departed on the 5th November : the Jewels Of Indochina Tour (LVCLV) – The TM informed me, more than one of our clients recently struggled on the Halong Bay Boat when allowed to swim from the boat. Our TM informs me the guests went in the water stepping off the rear of the boat, but as the current was so strong, they immediately got swept away and could not stop themselves. The boat crew then had to follow the guests in a small boat and pull them back into the boat. Whilst I understand the guests all had life jackets, our TM informs me this startled/scared the guests. In light of this incident, if a swim stop is still to be offered, can the boat crew ensure there is no strong current (calm waters only) prior to the guests getting in the water. If the only swim stop available has a strong current at all times, I would advise not to offer the swim stop to the clients, through fear of injury. I would appreciate the boat suppliers confirmation of the necessary changes. I look forward to hearing from you in due course and appreciate your continued co-operation/understanding in this matter. Kind Regards John PageHealth & Safety and Office ServicesOverseas Health & Safety Executive
