Lusch (2011) describes technologies as media through which“service ecosystems”—including supply chains and associatedresources—“(1) coproduce service offerings, (2) exchange serviceofferings, and (3) cocreate value” (p. 15). Accordingly, onewould expect that operand resources such as RTI mediate theinfluence of operant supply chain resources, such as collaborationand integration. Further, one would expect such a complex minglingof resources to manifest only when collaboration and integration,as well as the interaction between them, are mediated byRTI. Such a complex combination of composite resources wouldcomprise an interconnected resource under Madhavaram andHunt’s (2008) definition. Thus:H5: Relational technological intensity (an operandresource)—comprises an Interconnected operantresource when acted upon by operant resources insuch a manner that:H5a: Relational technological intensity mediates the relationshipbetween collaboration and perceived firmperformance.H5b: Relational technological intensity mediates the relationshipbetween integration and perceived firmperformance.H5c: Relational technological intensity mediates the interactiveeffects of collaboration and integration in theirrelationship with perceived firm performance.H5d: Relational technological intensity mediates the relationshipbetween collaboration and logistics servicecompetency.H5e: Relational technological intensity mediates therelationship between integration and logistics servicecompetency.H5f: Relational technological intensity mediates the interactiveeffects of collaboration and integration in theirrelationship with and logistics service competency.
