Corporate entrepreneurs working in internal or external corporate ventures need to havethe same skills and conviction as an external entrepreneur, although they work within thecorporate context (Shabana, 2010). Thus, corporate entrepreneurs should have entrepreneurialabilities that foster innovative behavior and contribute to organizational innovation (Covin &Slevin, 1991 ). According to Shabana (2010), if companies support employees withentrepreneurial abilities, they can succeed in the corporate context. However, if companiesfail to adequately support such employees, they too fail or may leave to start their owncompany. Thus, companies with an entrepreneurial capability will combine several innovativeactivities over time and actively foster their employees’ entrepreneurial abilities (Dess,Lumpkin, & McGee, 1999; Hornsby, Naffziger, Kuratko, & Montagno, 1993). This can bedone by setting up an organizational structure that will support entrepreneurial employees’abilities (Kuratko et al., 1990; Shabana, 2010).
