How does Prospan work?

Prospan's powerful active ingredient, hedera helix has a special two-fold action to help relieve and ease coughing.

When treating your child's cough, be aware that many regular cough medicines can now no longer be given to children under 12 years of age, however Prospan is suitable for all ages**.

Is Prospan available for infants?

Prospan Infant Drops are also available in pharmacies nationally. Please speak to your pharmacist for under 2 year olds for suitability and dosage instructions.

Is Prospan available for adults?

Too often your child gets a cough and soon after, you're also suffering a nasty cough. The good news is that all Prospan products are suitable for adults.

All Prospan products can be used by adults: Prospan Expectorant, Prospan Infant Drops and now Prospan Lozenges, for when you need to treat your cough on the go! Prospan's formula is non-drowsy, sugar-free and gluten-free.

How much Prospan should I use to treat my cough or my child's cough?

With Prospan, you only need half the dosage of many other cough medicines. So instead of a standard adult dose (up to 15ml 3 times per day), you only need 5ml of Prospan Expectorant 3 times per day. The dosage for children is also much lower, making it even easier for little ones to swallow! Fortunately, Prospan tastes great so getting smaller children to take it, does not seem to be a problem.

Prospan Expectorant's Dosage Guidelines:

2-5 years 2.5ml 3 x per day
6-9 years 5ml 3 x per day
9-16 years 5ml 3 x per day
Adults 5-7.5ml 3 x per day
