as you have read, the coast ranges eun along the coast . east of them lies the sierra nevada. in between lies the long central valley region . a valley is an area between moutnain ranges . valleys may be flat, v-shaped, or u-shaped.
the central valley iw 450 miles long and only about 50 miles wide. this one region is nearly three times the size of massachusetts.
two rivers.
many rivers flow through the central valley. they flow down from the mountains, bringing sand, gravel,a nd rich dirt into the valley.
the sacramento river starts in the klamath mountains and flows 382 miles into san francisco bay.
