Investment increased in the first half of 2015 but recededin the second, constrained by inventory accumulation and slowing fixed investment outside of housing. The purchasing managers’ index declined during the second half of the year to end at 54.9, which was still high enough to suggest further expansion in manufacturing. The industrial production index remained above the pre-crisis level throughout 2015 despite ending somewhat lower at 101.4 in December (2007 = 100).
