2.2 Compressor control ,::.:':-y.mThe output from the compressor has to be matched to the circuit demand which willusually be variable. T h e compressor output will be in excess of the average demand, andoften considerably in excess to allow for fumre expansion of the system. A n air receiveris used as a reservoir of compressed air to average out the system demand. The compressordehvery is fed to the receiver which supplies the system. Any excess air supplied to thereceiver could b e ' blown o f f through the safety or maximum pressure valve to atmosphere, but this would be a very expensive and impractical method. The air delivered by the compressor can be matched to the system demand by oneof the following control methods.1. Continuously varying the amount of air entering the compressor by restricting orthrottling the air inlet to the compressor. <«2. Continuously varying the drive speed of the compressor.
