My family and I just wrapped up a family visit to Vietnam last week and where we also spent a good deal of time in my wife's home town Buon Ma Thuot. During our stay at Ngan's parent's house I had an opportunity to again meet Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh (DOB: August 30, 1968 Passport number is 85861789) and his wife Mrs. Nguyen ThiThu Van (DOB: March 18,1969 Passport number is 85861790) who I understand will be interviewing for a B1/BZ visa on August 13,2015.
We spoke with them at length and spent a good amount of time with them as they are related to my wife through her mother's side of the family. We also know their daughter Nguyen Thi Mai Chi quite well, she is now in the United States and emigrated there after marrying her husband some years ago. They visited us in Alexandria, VA in 2012 during my previous tour in Washington, DC.
We understand Mr. Anh Nguyen and his wife plan to visit the United States for 2 weeks to attending The World Meeting of Families 2015 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during the upcoming U.5. visit of Pope Francis. They are looking forward to attending mass during the Pope's visit. I can confirm through personal observations and knowledge of him and his family dating to 2008 that Mr. Anh is quite religious, a deacon at his church, and a successful businessman in his own right. He has a number of interests including raising some 70 cattle I counted, a construction/heavy equipment business, and various parcels of land. They would also like to see their daughter Mai Chi again before the aforementioned meeting of Catholic families.
We visited their house and their business in person and would say they are firmly in the middle class of Vietnamese with significant business interests they are directly managing and that would be difficult for them to abandon or leave to others. ln addition, I want to confirm that that Mr. Anh and Mrs. Van have reconciled from what were apparently previous marital troubles and are living as husband and wife in a tight knit community in an apparently normal marriage relationship from our observation, knowledge, and conversation with relatives and friends who live in their community.
