It seems to me that you are committed to one perspective: your own. That's fine; it is no one's job or obligation to convert you, just as it is not your obligation to feel compelled to give up your position.

However, as with any perspective that is closed to the possibility of legitimate intersubjective readings of the same thing, it is a dead end outside of the stretch that can happen when people are caused to think more deeply about a thing than they might otherwise have. For this your monosubjectivity is important and appreciated.

What I take from this thread is that religion, what is called "religion" is really an instrument that mediates a conversation with the spiritual in all of us who seek a relationship with God.

As with everything in life, and as with the notion of free will which allows us to choose a good path or a bad path, religion only offers guidelines for behavior; our job is the hard work of clarifying them in order understand what the true will of god is. Because we are imperfect, flawed beings this endeavor will be imperfect and flawed.....a person with an enlightened heart will see enlightenment in qoran; a person with an unenlightened heart will not. This is not to say that they will never achieve enlightenment, only to say that the real test of faith is how people interpret the text; what kind of fruit it bears is an indicator.

Alaa's interpretation bears a compassionate fruit....others who read the same book, not so much.
