Flavonoids The principal flavonoids of citrus are the anthocyanins, flavones, flavonols, orflavanones. Certain flavonoids are used to detect the adulteration of orange juice with other citrus juices.The presence of hesperidin is associated with the fouling of heating surfaces. The major flavonoids present in orange are hesperidin, rutinoside of naringenin, isosakuranetin, 4 - D-glucoside of naringin, 4 - D-glucoside of naringenin rutinoside, and neohesperidin. The principle of bitter (sour) oranges is naringin in place of hesperidin of sweet oranges.
