70 years after Judah’s first defeat at the hand of the Babylonians, a new player comes onto the ancient Near Eastern stage. Cyrus, king of Persia, leads the armies of the Persians and the Medes against Babylon. In very short order, he overthrows the Babylonians and becomes master of all they possess—including Judah.
