A weak inhibitor will permit excessive corrosion of the boiler metal (2) A quick check of inhibition consists of diluting the concentrated acid to approximately 5 percent, then drop in a piece of cold rolled steel in the solution and heat to 65 degree C. Well mixed inhibited acid produces very few hydrogen bubbles which should be small and difficult to see. For comparison run a test with inhibited acid.
