Energy modeling

For the full-scale energy analysis of the building, we use EnergyPlus/EFILM, a computer program developed by DesignBuilder Software and WinBuild, Inc., for analyzing the energy use of buildings with and without film applied on the glazing. As an interface with the powerful EnergyPlus 6.0 simulation engine, EFILM allows the fenestration engineer to keep certain modeling parameters constant (for example, HVAC type and lighting power density), customize other variables (for example, envelope construction and air infiltration), and perform a “before and after” simulation to calculate the expected energy savings from applying different types of SolarZone window films. The U.S. National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC), an independent technical authority, validates the solar energy rejection performance of the films.
