Dolphins are marine mammal and quick learners. Calves stay with their mothers for several years, allowing the time and opportunity for extensive learning to take place, particularly through imitation. They are also carnivores, which means they eat meat, mostly fish and squid. Although dolphins can be found in oceans worldwide, they prefer the coastal water and bays. They vary in size from 1.2 m and 50 kg up to 10 m and 8200 kg.A female dolphin gives birth to a single caft every 2 years after a gestation period from 11 to 12 months. The life time of a dolphin is from 25 to 65 years or, sometimes, longer, depending on species. It is interesting to know that they are among the most intelligent animals. Dolphins are at stake because of habitat pollution and accidental fishing net entrapment.
