Simulating the chemical effect of limestone substitutionSeveral studies showed that limestone seems to favor crystallization of monocarbonate rather than monosulfate [25,26], with the consequence of increasing the amount of ettringite [25]. The high affinity between calcium aluminate and carbonate phases to form monocarbonate had previously been reported by Feldman et al. [27].
