The average price discounts are 1.49 percent, 1.75 percent, and 1.45 percent, respectively, for American Maize Products, American Tobacco, and Liggett and Myers Tobacco. For Harvey Hubbell the average price discount is only 0.3 percent. For each of these
companies the number of ‘-’ monthly observations exceeds the number of ‘+’ observations. For three of the companies the null hypothesis can be rejected at the 0.01 level according to both non-parametric tests. For Harvey Hubbell, Inc. the hypothesis can be rejected at the 0.07 level according to the sign test and at the 0.03 level according to the Wilcox test.
