1966: một năm quan trọng

Hộp 2.1 Các loại tàu

Containerisation đã trở thành một thực tế của đời vào năm 1966, một thực tế tất cả các thành viên tham gia vận tải biển cuối cùng đã phải đối mặt và đưa ra quyết định về. Vào ngày 14 tháng 4 năm 1961 nó đã được quyết định rằng một container tiêu chuẩn đã được 8 x 8 x 10, 20, 30 hoặc 40 feet, và các nhà chức trách Mỹ thông báo rằng chỉ được thiết kế cho tàu container các kích thước này có thể nhận được các khoản trợ cấp xây dựng.

Chiến tranh lạnh tiếp tục và các sự kiện quan trọng như cuộc xâm lược của Liên Xô vào Tiệp Khắc năm 1968 đã dẫn đến sự ổn định build-up của các căn cứ quân sự Mỹ ở châu Âu và những cơ sở cần thiết cung cấp đã được vận chuyển bằng container. Hiệp định thương mại Sealand với Bộ Quốc phòng, ở châu Âu và ngay sau đó vào sân khấu của cuộc chiến tranh Việt Nam, là rất quan trọng cho sự phát triển của tàu, thiết bị đầu cuối và thiết bị.
