This largest class of synthetic surfactant was most prominently represented by las and tpsIn the 1950 tps had largely relaced soap as an active ingredient in laundry detergents in Eu , the Usa . it was later found, however, that the branched side-chain present in TPS prevents the compound from undergoing sufficient biodegradation. Thus, mean were developed to replaced it by more readily by diodegradable straigh-chain lineare LAS homologues. Since that time, favorable economic circumstrances and good performance characteristic have permitted straigh-chain lineare LAS to take the lead among laundry detergents. The large-scale manufacturing methods for Las have been reviewed.SAS. Sodium SAS have been known as commercial surfactants since the 1940. Their large-scale production began in the late 1960. Sodium SAS are still valued as specialty anionic surfactants for consumer products. Their 1998 demand amonted to only 60 alkali, acids, and strong oxidants including chlorine. Sodium are produced by photochemical sulfoxidation or sul of suitable C paraffin cuts. Manufaceturing properties, applications and charater-istics of SAS have been reviewed.
