Flowcrete Australia was approached to deliver a trafficable deck coating system for installation at the
Parklands undercover parking development in Brisbane’s popular South Bank.
As part of the phased renovation project, the entire 24,000m2 installation was to be completed over
a three year period, in monthly stages, Monday through to Thursday. This was to prevent the car park
from having to be shut-down for any period of time as well as to eliminate any disruption to the busy
weekend trade.
Flowcrete’s waterproof deck coating system, Deckshield, was selected for the project on account of
its highly resistant performance characteristics combined with its local and international track history.
The product, which has been specified for blue-chip clients including Westfield and Centro Roselands
offers clients a high level protective coating system for internal car park developments. The product
carries a highly accredited fire-rating and is highly durable, chemical resistant and easy to maintain.
Following devastating floods in Queensland, parts of the Parklands development were flooded; with
areas of the car park being submerged over three metres under water.
In these areas the concrete had moved causing the substrate to crack. Remarkably, the Deckshield
system showed no signs of delamination and after a thorough clean, performed as if new.
