Staff wearing red tie with walkie talkie promised us 3000000 to hoi an one way. Got on the taxi, driver said 3700000 and we disagreed then he dropped us off to another taxi, got on another taxi said 3000000, driver agreed, when got off in hoi an, driver charged us 4000000.Worst experience was: first day we came, we paid 10times more (originally said 700000vnd, we paid 7000000vnd by mistake as we just landed), the driver didnt give us back the change. Worst experience in Vietnam. Don't want to come back anymore .Reply16 repliesSort by: jaxfl1 · Edited: Aug 10, 2015, 10:38 AMjacksonville · 3,011 forum posts#1 of 16 ·Sorry you should have had your hotel send a driver for you and none of that would have happened. You did not check with us before your trip....Reply Josephine Y · Edited: Aug 10, 2015, 11:06 AM· 7 forum posts#2 of 16 ·That was sent by the hotel the one I hired to Hoi An which made the experience in Vietnam worse.Reply Josephine Y · Aug 10, 2015, 11:10 AM· 7 forum posts#3 of 16 ·The staff in the hotel is basically collaborating with Vinasun. In this case I need to inform users here that you need to beware of Vinasun Taxi in Moonlight Hotel Da Nang cuz it maybe the hotel responsibility as well.Reply 1-24-2013_kp · Aug 10, 2015, 11:20 AMNha Trang, Vietnam · 7,714 forum posts#4 of 16 ·I think you're mistaken, Josephine Y. In Vietnam it is always YOUR responsibility. Quite often the taxi drivers work with selected hotels and the passengers are none the wiser.Whenever you travel, especially in a place as unregulated as Vietnam, you need to look after yourself.Reply Britmaveric · Aug 10, 2015, 11:24 AMPattaya, Thailand · 7,628 forum posts#5 of 16 ·Def need to make a set price deal - normally 600k by meter.Reply DirtyPierreOnTour · Aug 10, 2015, 11:31 AMHo Chi Minh City, Vietnam · 7,489 forum posts#6 of 16 ·Why am I suspicious of your post?Lets break it down."Do not use vinasun taxi green."Vinasun taxis are all white with a red and green stripe on the side. So you gave him 10 times more than you were meant but have admitted it was your mistake?
"Worst experience in Vietnam. Don't want to come back anymore."
Yes it probably was your worst experience but you have no one to blame but yourself.
A simple search here on Tripadvisor would have told you what the price of a taxi is from Danang airport to Hoi An. I expect you don't want to come back anymore but you were able to find TA to complain about it, well next time do your research and learn the currency of the country you are about to visit. Download a currency app for your phone and know what you are doing with your money. Taxis are cheap as chips in Vietnam and to give a taxi driver 10 times the fare is a bit much to swallow. I expect he thought all his Xmas's had come at once. It was dishonest of him to accept such a ludicrous amount but then again to give him such an amount is even more ridiculous.

What did the meter say ? I suspect that the complainant asked for a fare thinking he was getting a trip on the cheap. However it appears that DP has nailed it.

I can't help but think you guys are being a bit unfair. Foreign travel can be a trap for the uninitiated, and TA abounds with warnings about how easy it is to be ripped off.
Josephine Y's story doesn't sound all that implausible (even if she cannot distinguish burgundy from red), and it's difficult to see what else she might have to gain by posting it (unless she is the owner of a rival cab firm, of course!)
Not everyone is travel-savvy, and Joseph
