1. INTRODUCTIONMicrofiltration (MF) like all the other membrane separation processes is a tech-nique which allows the differential concen-tration in the liquid retained by the mem-brane, named MF retentate, of the components with a size bigger than the aver-age pore diameter of the membrane. The liquid going through the MF membrane is named microfiltrate. It contains, at the same concentration as those existing in the incom-ing treated liquid, the components with a size smaller than the average pore diameter.
