In the TCMT protocol, relays help the transmitting node forward the packet to next hop. For example, in Fig. 1, we present a 3-hop route from the source 0 N to the destination 3 N and the number of chosen relays at each hop is 2, 3 and 2, respectively. Initially, the source 0 N broadcasts the packet to the intermediate node 1 N and two chosen relays 1,1 R and 1,2 R of the first hop. These relays decode the received packet. If they decode successfully, they will forward the packet to the node 1 N at the pre-determined time slots. Otherwise, it will keep silent. The node 1 N then uses MRC technique to combine the received signals and do decoding. If it decodes successfully, it and the relays 2,1 R , 2,2 R and 2,3 R of the second hop cooperate to transmit the signal to the node 2 N . Finally, a cooperative transmission is also realized at the third hop. In this paper, each node has a single antenna and uses the half-duplex mode. Hence, for medium access, a time-division channel allocation scheme is employed in order to achieve
